Response to Chaper 6
I would prefer to teach in a classroom that had more digital technologies. Although there are aspects of technology that are negative, such as drifting towards being more social than educated, there are more positives. Administrative software programs support almost every area of classroom administration. (Chapter 6, page 162) The programs can help with tracking students’ progress and making communication faster and easier. Everything will be available for the students and teachers to see which makes the teaching and learning process that much easier.
Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies
A traditional audio technology is a cassette player. The cassette player can be used in the classroom for students who are blind. They can record the lesson and, because they cannot see, use the recording as notes. An emerging audio technology is Internet Radio. Internet radio can be used to enhance language, social studies, science and current events curricula.
A traditional Visual technology is the broadcast video, which is commonly known as television. It can help to bring and readings to life, or to see how something comes together with projects or stories. An emerging visual technology is YouTube. YouTube is becoming more and more popular to use in the classroom. It may not be exactly YouTube, but branches of it such as TeacherTube are used to show students clips that may help them understand what is being learned.
